Where the information comes from

Everything on the map is assembled from public government records. Each property entry names the specific sources behind it and the date we last checked them. If you want to check our work, this page is how.

Some Oregon records exist but are not posted anywhere, so we request them and cite the response.

Sources that publish open data files or services are re-pulled every Monday morning. The map shows the date of the most recent run.

Slower

Everything else

Records that live behind a portal, a login, or a records request are updated by hand on a longer cycle.

Government data can be out of date the day it is published. Every entry carries a last-checked date. If something matters to a decision you are making, confirm it against the source.

The line

What we publish

We keep an internal workspace for our own organizing. The public map is built from an explicit list of allowed fields, so what is on our side of that line stays there.

Published

Sourced information

Locations, unit counts, income levels, affordability timelines, which law applies, owner and manager as filed, inspection results as recorded, open code cases, support services where publicly sourced, and the citation for each.

Never published

Our own judgment

Internal rankings and the reasoning behind them, our notes on a property, outreach status, and anything at all about individual tenants. None of it is written to the public database.

Corrections

Tell us we got it wrong

Public data has errors in it, and so will we. Corrections are welcome from anyone, including owners and managers.

Send the property name and what you believe is wrong. A pointer to the source that says otherwise speeds it up. We correct the entry and update its last-checked date.
